  • FACTS ABOUT SODIUM

Experts Call for Accelerated National Sodium Reduction Initiatives

Responding to the health threat posed by Americans' over-consumption of sodium, experts in the department of nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health and The Culinary Institute of America are calling for sodium reduction strategies that are strong and effective -- and that maximize the enjoyment people derive from food.

What you can do to reduce sodium in your diet:

-Take stock of the sources of salt in your diet, such as restaurant meals, salt-based condiments, and convenience foods. Some of these are really loaded with salt.
-Read the labels when shopping. Look for lower sodium in cereals, crackers, meat products, or any foods with low-salt options.
-If you think your meals are high in sodium, balance them by adding high-potassium foods, such as fresh fruits and vegatables.
-Ask about salt added to food, especially at restaurants. Most restaurant chefs will omit salt when requested.
-Sunpeak Multiwise samosas contain only 1/4 of the sodium levels found in other Samosa brands on the market while our breaded chicken products contain 1/3 the sodium of their over-processed competitors.
